Special Pick-Up Policy

Please be advised the Department of Public Services special pickup policy has changed.

Effective May 1, 2018 special pick-ups are made on Monday only. You must call prior to 4:00 p.m. the Friday before to schedule during the warm weather season. In the winter months we will try to accommodate your request the next business day.

*Special pick-ups are limited to dirt, construction wood and debris, concrete, sod (not yard waste or leaves) and other sizable items that the rubbish contractor will not take such as swing sets, chain link fencing and poles, pool tables, steel shelving along with other items as determined by the Director.

*Items will not be eligible for special pickup if the work was performed by a Contractor. In those cases, it will be the Contractor's responsibility to dispose of the material.

*For very large pick-ups, please call and schedule a truck if it will be more convenient. Trucks are a first come first serve service and are limited, depending on the scheduled activities of the Department of Public Services. Trucks will be delivered by 3:00 pm on Friday and picked up Monday morning.

*Work requiring a building permit must have a permit before the material will be picked up.

*Lumber and other wood items will be taken. For the safety of the staff we do ask that you remove nails and other sharp items.

*There is no limit of the number of special pick-ups per year, however, if it becomes excessive (directors discretion) then the homeowner will be notified.

*Please place special pick-up material on your driveway approach. Material placed on the grass easement or in the street will not be picked up.

If you have any questions regarding this matter, please call the Department of Public Services at 734 782-2470.
