Starting, April 20th, 2015, Division Street will be closed for sanitary sewer replacement
Initially, Division will be closed from N. Wesley to Cooke Street. Construction will be halted at the intersection of Cooke Street until June 6th (the last day of school) at that point, the entire section from N. Wesley to Gibraltar Rd. will be closed until September 4, 2015, to allow expedient completion of construction. This project includes sanitary sewer replacement, storm sewer replacement and street and sidewalk replacement in this entire area.
Mayor Dropiewski is very excited to announce that in Summer 2015 the City of Flat Rock will begin a new Internship Program designed to give young Flat Rock residents valuable experience and skills not just in the operation of Municipal government, but also general office and professional skills that may otherwise not be available to many area Students. Through this program, Students will work with many of the City Departments and will be exposed to and contribute to many different projects. Depending on the number of applicants there will be 2-4 positions available, will involve a commitment of 20-29 hours a week and will be paid $8.15/hr.
Requirements for the program:
*At least 16 years old as of May 2015 and completion of at least sophomore year of High School
*Resident of Flat Rock strongly preferred
*Basic Computer Skills
*Desire to learn
*Good School disciplinary record
Completion of the City of Flat Rock Internship Program Application Form
Selected Finalists will be interviewed by a panel of City Officials
Start date will be negotiable but expected to be upon completion of Academic Year

The C. E. Raines Company (CERCO) and Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr & Huber (FTCH) are working for the City of Flat Rock on the Wastewater and Storm Water Asset Management Program. The development of the plan will take approximately three years to complete. Over this time period, both of these consultants will have field staff throughout the City. You will see their trucks and staff performing work around sanitary sewer and storm water manholes, as well as pumping stations. The staff carry id badges.

Wayne County will be holding five collections this year at various locations. Note that May 2nd will be held here in Flat Rock!
Curbside yard waste pickup will begin March 17, 2015, and continue through December 17, 2015
Yard waste must be in paper bio-degradable bags or 30 gallon trash cans marked with a yard waste sticker (available at Flat Rock City Hall).
Yard waste in plastic bags will NOT be picked up.
The city of Flat Rock and Rizzo Environmental Services are now offering the residents of Flat Rock an opportunity to receive a 67 gallon wheeled recycling cart to use and join the Rizzo Rewards Recycling program. An informational packet will be mailed to residents from Rewards for Recycling in the near future.
2015 Animal Licenses will be available starting January 2, 2015, in the Treasurer's Department at City Hall. The cost is $7.00 each until April 30, after which they will be $14.00 each. For additional information please call 734-782-2463.
