Response to Inquiry from DEQ

Mr. Dropiewski:
Thank you for contacting us with your concerns.

The public hearing notice is attached for your review. This document was e-mailed on June 17, 2014 to the same agencies listed as copies on the public notice. Our administrative staff in Lansing mailed hard copies to the adjacent property owners that were listed in the original application.

Notice of the hearing was published in the Monroe News on June 23, 2014. a copy of the publication is attached for your review. The News Herald was recommended as the local paper to publish the hearing notification. However, Lansing staff indicated a significant fee associated with the News Herald so the hearing notification was published in the Monroe News instead.

Notification was also published in the DEQ calendar on June 30, 2014 and a copy of the write up is attached for your review.

Hope this helps and feel free to contact us if you have any additional questions or concerns.

Thank you,

Mr. Richardson,

As the Mayor of the City of Flat Rock, I was asked by a few of our Citizens to inquire and confirm that the DEQ followed its notification protocols regarding the recent public hearing on Meijer's re-permitting application for their store in Flat Rock, which the Flat Rock Planning Commission and City Council had approved last year. I assume that is the case but wanted to respect the request I received.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
