The City Clerk's Office is responsible for a number of different functions both to Residents as well as City Council, City Departments, City Boards and Commissions. Serving as the Official Keeper of Records, the Clerk maintains all files and permanent records of the City such as City Codes, Ordinances, Resolutions, City Council/Boards and Commissions meeting minutes.
The City Clerk is responsible for attending City Council meetings and also prepares and distributes City Council meeting agendas; maintains an accurate record of the proceedings of the meetings; publishes legal notices as required; provides voter registration to residents; serves as custodian of all contracts, deeds, ordinances, resolutions, and city records. The Clerk shall administer oaths as required under the City Charter or laws of the State of Michigan and shall be custodian of the City Seal.
The City Clerk's Office is also responsible for maintenance of the Qualified Voter File which is the official voter registration through the State of Michigan.
